Make small and “no cost” improvements to your home to kick off the new year.

1. Bookcases and Open Shelving

Start fresh by removing all the items and giving the surfaces a thorough dusting. Carefully curate and place back only the items that hold meaning to you, grouping and decluttering as you go. Donate or relocate pieces that no longer fit the space. Over time, these “nooks” can start to look tired and cluttered, but a simple refresh will breathe new life into them.

2. Everyday Small Appliances

When was the last time you showed your coffee maker or toaster some love? These hardworking appliances deserve attention. Grab a cleaner, roll up your sleeves, and give them a proper shine—it’s a quick way to brighten your mornings!

3. Front Entrance and Door

There’s nothing like coming home and being greeted by a welcoming front door. If your door has intricate details, chances are it’s hiding months—or even years—of dust. Take the time to clean every crevice, wipe down any glass, and remove cobwebs. Trim overgrown plants, dust off the doormat, and hose down the hard surface floor. If you have leftover paint or stain, a quick touch-up can transform your entrance, giving you a refreshed start to the new year.
