Cream & Black
Cream and black are two neutrals that we are truly enjoying together lately. It’s an approachable palette that provides a sophisticatedly warm experience alongside a joyful one offset by bright and bold colors. We were inspired to call this vibrant and uplifting project, “Dulce Vida”!
Room Service Tip #14:
Pay close attention to the tone, hue, and variation of the hardwood flooring with your kitchen cabinets.
It can be quite a challenge selecting the perfect hardwood floor to beautifully complement your kitchen cabinets, especially if the kitchen cabinets themselves are also wood. To make the selection process easier, consider these three important characteristics when choosing your hardwood floor. Once you have a comprehensive understanding of these features, you will be more confident in selecting the right floor that pairs well with your kitchen cabinets.
Tone is the lightness and darkness of a color. You may want to have a lighter tone floor to go with your dark cabinets or vise versa. Or aim for the same tone that results in a blending effect or soft contrast with your kitchen cabinets
Hue is the pure color term such as “red”, “yellow”, or “violet”. Wood is inherently a neutral-brown, so it’s important to study the underlying hue. For example, cherry wood has a red hue, oak wood has a yellow hue, and walnut can have a violet hue.
Variation is the range of color and tone. Very little variation is monotone and has a solid-colored appearance, while a lot of variation includes a wide range of colors and tones, exhibiting significant movement and character. Additionally, the inherent characteristics of the wood grain can contribute to this variation.
